E3 2020が新型コロナウイルスの影響により中止されると言う報道が広がっている。E3はゲーム業界最大のイベントで毎年多数のゲーム会社による最新ゲームが発表される。

事の発端は大手インディーパブリッシャーのDevolver Digitalが「E3のフライトとホテルをキャンセルしよう」とTwitterで発信した。Devolver Digitalは日本での知名度は高くないと思うが狂気に満ちたE3のステージが有名だ。

その後、Devolver Digitalのツイートを引用してKOTAKUのJason Schreier氏やリーク情報で有名なWario64などがE3 2020はキャンセルされることを示唆している。また、米ブルームバーグが日本時間3月12日午前2時30分にESAが公式に発表すると伝えている。



新型コロナウイルスの影響はゲーム業界にも大きな影響を与え、来週開催を予定していたGDCはキャンセルされ、マイクロソフトやDestinyで知られるBungieなど多くのゲーム会社は自宅で作業ができる環境を進めている。
